Kimal prepares for further expansion with new, purpose built distribution facility

Kimal PLC has been supplying hospitals across the world with customised procedural solutions and vascular access devices for the last fifty years and since its inception in 1964, the Company has experienced significant growth, with turnover in 2017 reaching £45 million for the first time in the Company’s history, 60% of which was generated in the UK. Following the Company’s expansion over the last few years in particular, Kimal has outgrown its 70,000 sq. ft. Droitwich and 15,000 sq. ft. Redditch distribution facilities and the Company will be moving to new, purpose built premises at the £120 million Worcester Six Business Park.
Alan Press, Kimal’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “The move to Worcester Six will help Kimal realise its ‘exciting growth plans moving forward.”
The new £13 million unit, which will be twice the size of Kimal's existing distribution facilities in the West Midlands, will be located off junction six of the M5 near Worcester, and will create an additional 100 jobs over the next 5 years. The Company is investing an initial £3 million in the new Kimal site, with a further £3 million to be invested in additional facilities in the future.
A planning application has now been submitted to Worcestershire County Council, and following consent, construction of Kimal’s new distribution facility could commence as soon as October this year with practical completion expected late 2018.
